Pukaskwa National Park
Pukaskwa National Park in Northern Ontario Canada is a secluded area along the shores of an inland sea named Lake Superior. The closest town is Marathon .It is a beautiful place in the summer ,when it can be reached by car. There is a nice campground and a Parks Canada visitor center. It is a park where you must get out of the car ,to see. Alot of hiking trails ,long sandy beaches scattered with driftwood, and Hattie Cove to canoe or kayak. It is a small cove on Lake Superior. But once the heavy snows of winter set in ,the only way to see this place is to snowshoe 2.5 miles one way. For the last 5years I have taken this journey and every time has been incredible. It is like this place has been frozen in time . No sign of anyone ,only tracks from resident moose ,fox or Lynx.
This picture was taken in Feb. 2008 at Hattie Cove ,the temperature outside was 25 below zero. Not much wildlife during these harsh times so I concentrate my photos on the ice formations and Lake Superior. The snow was well over knee deep in the level but once we reached Lake Superior it was a windswept mixture of sand ,ice and snow. More photos of Pukakswa National Park can be seen in the Ontario Canada folder.
